Tucked away in the colourful heart of Kuranda Village, Kuranda Candy Kitchen is where sugar meets showtime. Every single piece of our rock candy is handmade right here in-store — and if you’re lucky, you’ll catch our candy artists twisting, pulling, and shaping molten sugar into tiny bursts of joy before your eyes.
We’re more than just a lolly shop. We’re a little pocket of fun, nostalgia, and family-friendly magic — where locals come to treat themselves, and visitors walk away with sticky fingers and big smiles.
With more than 35 flavours, from Rosy Apple and Watermelon to good old Humbugs, plus our melt-in-your-mouth honeycomb and peanut crunch, there’s something to bring a smile to every age.
A Story so sweet
Kuranda Candy Kitchen first opened in 2002 in a small market stall before moving to its bigger, brighter home in 2010. In 2012, Chris and Melanie took the reins, embracing a new challenge and a new life in the tropics. Since then, the shop has grown into a must-stop destination for locals and travellers alike — a place where nostalgia meets novelty, and where every jar or bag of rock candy carries a little piece of Kuranda’s colourful charm.
Why We Do It
For us, candy is more than just a treat. It’s about showcasing a timeless craft, sparking memories, and putting smiles on faces of all ages. Kids walk in and think they’ve “died and gone to heaven,” while adults rediscover the flavours they loved as children. Proudly locally owned and deeply involved in our community, we love supporting schools, charities, and events — because happiness, like candy, is best when it’s shared.
